New Year, New Goals, New Blog Design

I’m trying a few new things this year, one of which is a new look for the blog. I like minimal and clean, so I really didn’t stray too far from my last design - just updated it. I may still play around with the background, I’m not quite finished, but the bulk of it is done (still need to get the link love set up).
I’m also trying out a new comment system called Intense Debate. I gave Disqus a try, but at the recommendation of a few other bloggers, I switched. I’ve also slimmed down the interface so that only the latest blog post appears on the front page. This will speed up loading time for those of you who visit the site regularly instead of viewing through an RSS reader. Previous posts are on in a list on the left side of each page and post.
All in all I have a few new years goals. For blogging I’m trying to become more consistent. As I look over my posting for the past year, I realize that I really need to develop a routine when it comes to writing. I have a tendency to write in spurts, post it in spurts, then run out of things to say once those spurts are over. So at the minimum my goal is to post once a day, and no more than twice a day. I suppose if something is really timely I’ll post more than once, but that won’t be the norm - hopefully that’ll spread things out a little more evenly.
I’m also challenged to go to a new level in prayer this year as well. Pastor Ken’s message from this last Sunday rocked me to the core and got me thinking about all the ways I convince myself that either I don’t need to pray, or don’t want to pray. Seen as how I tend to be a legalist, my eyes were opened to the internal conflict that I face regarding prayer and my relationship with the Holy Spirit. So in 2009, my goal is to get to know the Holy Spirit on a level that I’ve never known through a dynamic prayer life.
I’m also challenged to get healthy - Heather and I recently joined the local gym in our neighborhood and we’ve both worked our schedules around to enable us to take advantage of it in the mornings. On top of that we can overhauling our diet (with a little help from the South Beach book) and eliminating the junk. Our goal is to be lookin’ good by summertime.
Those are just a couple of the basic goals I’m setting for the new year. I’ve got more but I’m interested in hearing where what you think. I’m looking forward to experiencing growth in all areas of life as God leads us through this upcoming year.
