So obviously the big question is will Sawyer ditch Juliet for Kate? Personally I hope not, but we never know what ‘course correction’ needs to happen, or is happening…
I think the bigger question (the one real Lost fans are concerned with) deals with dual-existence. I thought it was interesting to see the introduction of young Charlotte. My wife picked up on the fact that her body disappeared because in 1974 she was alive and on the island – so we’ve established that you cannot be dead and alive at the same time… but can you be exist in the same time that your past self? If the answer is yes, then it will be interesting to see Ben’s role in the coming weeks. If the answer is no, then Ben, who sustained injuries in the 316 crash, may be dead…
Thoughts?
The look on Sawyer's face when he said it all. "Crap, now what do I do?!" I think he loves them both and is going to have a tough time navigating it.
I was thinking that we are apparently seeing a time on the island just before or around the time that Ben and his father came to the island. So little Ben may be running around too.
And so now that they're in their own pasts, does that mean that they no longer exist in their original time? Does this mean they'll have never been in the plane crash?
I love time travel stories but they make my head spin!
Horace does look older than when Ben and his Dad came to the island… so I agree that we'll see little Ben. Maybe we'll see Annie too?
Refresh my memory…Annie who?
Annie was Ben's childhood friend who gave him the doll:

We also caught the whole reason why Charlotte must have vanished. I am wondering if this is in fact before or after Charles Widmore's "exile" or not…cant remember WHEN that happened (he might have already explained that to John in the hospital bed) But i do think this episode explained well…that you CAN in fact course correct. (Sawyer the crew saving Paul's wife and having not burried the bodies correctly according to the agreement) I can't quite figure out why Richard can't remember any of the visitations from people such as John Locke and sawyer and others who have asked if he remembers them and his response is NO. I thought he was special??? maybe someone has an idea as to why Richard seems to be behind the time "skips" when in the former seasons he seemed to be way on top of everything.
There is a substantial rumor that the O6's involvement is a huge 'course correction' to reverse The Purge.
The writers are definitely bringing in more free will versus determinism in these episodes….
Oh YEAH! That WILL be interesting if we see her again!
I'm not sure about last night. It was a good episode, just a little different.
I was 'shocked' that Sawyer and Juliet hooked up… ok maybe not, but I did think it was cool that Sawyer took up residence as the head security guy, seeing as how Sawyer has been doing that since he showed up to the island anyways.
What about Miles, do you think we'll be seeing him running around the island as a little kid as well?
I think it's possible that big and little Miles could run into each other – however we don't know whether it's possible to exist simultaneously with your past self.
I was glad to see Sawyer as a homebody.
this was a great episode. one thing my wife noticed… we didn't see Faraday in the "3 years later" scenes… does this mean he didn't make it over the course of the three years of waiting? I hope he did… because I really like him.
That's interesting… but we do know that we saw Faraday at the Orchid build in this season's premiere. I think he was at the build because he assimilated into Dharma with the rest of the crew.
I wonder if his ultimate goal is to find the frozen donkey wheel and discover how the island's properties work…
oh man, I'm glad they're all back together, but this is going to get messy (at least in the love…square?)- Sawyer obviously left Juliet in bed because he knew Kate would be there. This could mean he still loves Kate, or at least didn't know how he would feel. So now Sawyer has a 3 year history with Juliet away from Kate. Jack and Kate have a couple years together on the mainland, though it was shaky, they did just hook up the night before they left. Jack and Juliet had a thing while they were together on the island….so we got ourselves a love square. I'm just afraid Juliet is gonna end up getting picked last, and I really like her, but for me Kate takes the cake especially now that she's back to tough, island Kate, not mommy, mainland Kate.
I can't figure out all this dual existence space-time continuum stuff. Farraday keeps saying "whatever happened happened," but yet he talked to Desmond during his button pushing days at the hatch, and he remembered it all of a sudden in the future. Then Charlotte remembers Daniel warning her about something in her childhood before Locke puts the wheel back on access and the rest of the crew end up in 1974 when Farraday encounters young Charlotte. And the dual exsistence….We know that Charlotte's 2006 body disappeared because she's alive on the island, but where did 2006 Charlotte go? And what about Ben. If there can only be one Charlotte on island, there can probably only be one Ben. Which I think means young Ben can't be there. And if young Ben was there wouldn't have Sawyer and crew have run into him at the Dharma camp?
(i'm sorry this is so long, but i've been out of the loop for a couple weeks. i have so much more too….ugh. I love this show!)
Love square – awesome. What happens when they add Hurley to the square? What does it become then?
It will be interesting to see how they handle Desmond and "the rules". Obviously there are certain conditions to time travel that have to be adhered to, but in Desmond's case (and also in Ben's and Widmore's cases with the death of Alex, Ben's abducted daughter) the rules can either be changed or broken. We still don't have a definition of the rules, so moving forward we'll see what happens.
I think Charlotte's body disappeared because it isn't possible to exist in both a living and non-living form, but that doesn't answer the question of living and living (as in Ben's case… possibly).
I agree that Juliet will probably get hosed out of the love square deal… unless Kate stays true to her nature of running from one love interest to the other and back again.
